The Apple Watch is as ubiquitous as any other piece of Apple gear, but I like to think the SE is one of the brand’s most underrated products. The SE offers many of the same features you’ll see on the pricier Apple Watch Series 7, like the classic watch OS, the ability to receive notifications, a bright display, long battery life, and apps that track your fitness and workouts. But you do give up a few features that are only available on the Series 7, such as an always-on display, a sensor that measures SpO2 (how much oxygen is in your blood), and an electrocardiogram sensor that can give you ECG readings.
With GPS and cellular connectivity, you can make and answer calls, and send text messages, making it great for folks who are on the go. (The Apple Watch SE is also available with just GPS, meaning you can make calls and send messages, but need to have your phone nearby.) If you’re not super excited about an always-on display and don’t see yourself using the SpO2 and ECG sensors, then the SE is a solid bang for your buck that will provide all of the features you expect from an Apple Watch — now $200 less than the highest-end model.
