There’s little room for dillydallying whenever Target announces a new designer collaboration — after showing a preview online weeks ahead of an official launch, the big-box retailer usually schedules a discreet overnight drop for the luckiest and most dedicated shoppers (and insomniacs) to get their hands on first. We should know: Last year, some Strategist staffers (myself included) set alarms for Target’s highly anticipated collection with designers Victor Glemaud, Nili Lotan, and Rachel Comey. (Previously, the company partnered with fashion houses like Alexander McQueen, Proenza Schouler, and Missoni — and you can occasionally still find these pieces on the secondhand market.)
And after much wondering about what the next collaboration would be, we got our answer this week: For this year’s edition of its Fall Designer Collection, Target has teamed up with Sergio Hudson, Kika Vargas, and La Ligne. But out of the three, we’re probably most excited about the line from La Ligne, makers of one of our favorite Breton shirts and turtlenecks. The label, which was founded by former Vogue editors Valerie Macaulay and Meredith Melling, is known for its signature stripes, which are featured prominently throughout the Target collection. “We really wanted to translate some of our biggest hits from the main collection and things that are core to us and to our customers,” Macaulay told our sister site the Cut.
Launching on October 9 at 3 a.m. ET, the 36-piece collection ranges from $8 for a pair of knee-high socks to $60 for a trench coat. (By comparison, La Ligne’s knitwear typically starts around the $200 mark.) The clothes are all available in sizes XS to 4X, and though you can’t buy anything from the collection just yet — everything is tagged with a “coming soon” label on Target’s website — you can browse the full La Ligne x Target collection below to window-shop ahead of the official launch and prepare to add your favorites to your cart come October 9.
The Strategist is designed to surface the most useful, expert recommendations for things to buy across the vast e-commerce landscape. Some of our latest conquests include the best acne treatments, rolling luggage, pillows for side sleepers, natural anxiety remedies, and bath towels. We update links when possible, but note that deals can expire and all prices are subject to change.
