Our Favorite Boxer-Short Pajamas Are More Than 30 Percent Off

The “underwear as outerwear” trend is going strong, and boxers are now as much a staple for women as they are for men — especially for sleeping or lounging around at home. And one of our favorite pairs, J.Crew’s End-on-End Cotton Boxer Shorts, is currently more than 30 percent off. Originally $40, you can get the boxers now for $27.

These boxers count former Strategist writer Chloe Anello (who’s also a former J.Crew employee) and me, our resident pajamas expert, as fans. (They are a cousin to author Ottessa Moshfegh’s beloved pajama set, too.) Anello was inspired to wear hers out because of former J.Crew creative director Jenna Lyons, who “popularized the trend of wearing pajama shirts as everyday tops.” Unlike boxers made for men, Anello explains, these don’t have an opening in the front — only a logoed label — which makes them look more like everyday shorts. Still, they are “exactly what you want from a boxer. They swing out from my hips in a way that my other shorts do not, allowing more airflow that keeps my legs cooler,” Anello says. It was her recommendation that convinced me to buy my own pair. I like the barely-there thinness of the cotton, especially as someone who runs hot in my sleep.

The discount makes now a good time to try a pair for yourself — and while you’re adding boxers to your cart, keep in mind that J.Crew is also taking 40 percent off a whole host of other spring styles with code SPRING.

The Strategist is designed to surface the most useful, expert recommendations for things to buy across the vast e-commerce landscape. Some of our latest conquests include the best acne treatments, rolling luggage, pillows for side sleepers, natural anxiety remedies, and bath towels. We update links when possible, but note that deals can expire and all prices are subject to change.
