We’re nearing the end of day two of Amazon’s annual Prime Day sale, and the deals keep coming. Like many of you, I spent yesterday stocking up on a mix of gifts and boring-but-necessary household essentials like diapers, wipes, and hand soap. But professionally, over on the kid and baby beat, I noticed a bunch of very good deals on bigger ticket items, like strollers and car seats. There were fewer discounted Lego sets than I expected, but lots of excellent toys from Melissa & Doug, Magna-Tiles, Lovevery, and Crayola. I also saw many back-to-school deals on essentials like sneakers, lunch boxes, and water bottles. I’m back today with renewed energy to help you cut through the endless scroll of on-sale products and zero in on what’s really worth your attention.
The below list is limited to only the best deals on products that are at least 20 percent off (though a lot of the deals are even better), and I’ve organized the list by age group. Many of the items below are things that I own or have personally tested; most everything else is something we’ve written about before, as recommended by cool parents, educators, and kids themselves, or comes from a brand we trust.
I’ll be updating this post with new baby and kids’ deals all throughout this second installment of Prime Day. But you can also check out our comprehensive Prime Day hub page for all the deals we’re writing about. Or, for a quick summary of our top picks in kitchen, fashion, tech, beauty, back-to-school, and gifts, read our roundup of the 59 very best Prime Day deals, according to Strategist writers. The Deals I Personally Think Are the Best
I’ve spent the last couple years testing and writing about toys and baby gear. I’m also a parent, and my 18-month-old son has done his fair share of testing toys and gear as well. Based on that experience and the conversations I’ve had with smart and stylish parents over the years, there are six Prime Day deals I would check out first: Magna-Tiles are a wonderful open-ended building toy that is rarely discounted this much (they’re a good deal any time they’re less than $1 a tile); Baby Jogger’s City Mini GT2 stroller is tough yet smooth to push with a truly effortless one-hand fold; LEGO Duplo sets can be enjoyed by toddlers, but bigger kids love them too; Lalo’s high chair is one of my most essential pieces of baby gear and, because it’s convertible, something my son will be able to use for years; Avenlur’s splurge-worthy 5-in-1 toddler “gym” is a great get for this price; and Graco’s Extend2Fit convertible car seat has double cupholders and ten headrest/harness positions, and it can stay rear-facing longer than most other seats.
Babies and 1-year-olds
Here’s a very popular deal on a big box of my favorite baby wipes. (I was one of several hundred Strategist readers who bought them yesterday.)
I don’t have the freezer tray at home, but I use the Haakaa baby feeder on a daily basis to help my son with teething pain. He especially likes it filled with frozen banana, peaches, or mango.
A starter set of Boudreaux’s Butt Paste as recommended by many parents among Strategist staff.
Halo sleepsacks are some of the easiest to use, and this swaddle version, for babies who haven’t started rolling over yet, is extra cozy.
The Beco 8 is Strategist senior editor Winnie Yang’s all-time favorite baby carrier. She says this is a great deal.
My husband and I have been using this stroller for everything from naps in the park to grocery shopping since my son was 6 months old. Today, you’ll save a whopping $200 on it.
In addition to our Baby Jogger City Mini GT2 and the Yoyo stroller I prefer for taking the subway into Manhattan, this compact stroller from Ergobaby is my family’s favorite stroller for getting around Brooklyn.
Or you could save $440 on this full size stroller from the brand that makes one of our favorite compact city strollers. This is a great value as it comes with the kid seat, bassinet, and a rain cover.
I recently tested out a newer upgraded version of the Cybex Gazelle and was impressed by how luxurious it feels and how easy it is to fold or go from one seat to two. In my opinion, it’s a solid competitor for the Uppababy Vista stroller, and today it’s less than $600.
If you’re looking for a new car seat, like I am, this is the best Prime Day car-seat deal you’ll find. It’s an all-in-one seat so you’ll never need to buy another one. Plus, it allows you to keep your child rear-facing longer than most other car seats, which experts consider safer.
This is a great deal on the travel version of one of our favorite baby monitors. It comes with its own case and a 3-in-1 sound machine, night light, and audio monitor.
Strategist contributor Sara Gaynes Levy tested nine wearable breast pumps and named the Willow Go her favorite. (The brand’s other wearable pump, the Willow 360, also happens to be my favorite for traveling.) This deal is for a single pump, but you can also get the double set for 14 percent off.
I love our Lalo high chair for how comfortable it is, how easy it is to carry one-handed from room to room, and because it transforms into a play chair.
This little toy piano has been a top seller among Strategist parents for over three years. My own son got one for his 1st birthday and still loves playing with it six months later.
Baby Stella is an adorable soft baby doll that comes with removable clothing and a Velcro pacifier and is available in a range of diverse skin tones and hair types.
I recently switched to using all Mustela bath and body products for my son. I love the quality, but they aren’t cheap, so I’ll be stocking up during Prime Day.
At this price, I’d buy one of these stress-reducing electric nail files for each of my friends with a baby.
The Chicco KeyFit car seat is a Strategist favorite, and today’s price is almost the cheapest we’ve ever seen.
2- and 3-year-olds
Prime Day is always an incredible time to buy Magna-Tiles. Here are my two favorite deals from the brand this year.
We included this and several other Melissa & Doug costume sets in our guide to the best dress-up clothes for kids.
These Native sneakers are the only shoes my son has been wearing since early June. At this price, I’ll be buying another pair for him in the next size up.
Applying sunscreen to a squirmy toddler is the worst. This one, from our guide to the best reef-safe sunscreens, makes it a little easier.
Or, for kids who prefer climbing to bouncing, this wooden jungle gym is a very good deal.
Today you save almost $20 bucks on this Strategist favorite pretend-play toy from Melissa & Doug.
Kiddo glam from a brand that will replace your pair for free if they are lost or broken within one year of buying them.
I just bought this Steiff Minnie Mouse for my best friend’s daughter and am glad I waited until it went on sale.
Get yourself a tiny farm stand complete with a pony at the lowest price this set has ever been.
4- and 5-year-olds
We love our Toniebox, and this bundle is a solid deal.
The Yoto Mini is more portable than a Toniebox and much less expensive, too, especially today.
This Playmobil set lets recent day-care graduates revisit the “toddler room.”
For little builders (or kids who just like hitting stuff with hammers).
Chicco’s GoFit backless booster seat is a top pick from our guide to the best booster seats.
And if you need a travel booster seat or an extra to accommodate friends this summer, this is a great deal on a Strategist favorite.
If you’ve got a Spidey superfan at home, this bouncy house is a good buy-now-save-for-Christmas purchase.
An excellent indoor activity for heat-wave days. (It also makes a great gift.)
This nearly half-off PlanetBox and carrying case is going to sell out fast.
6- and 7-year-olds
This magnet-based building toy is lightweight and packs nearly flat, which makes it a good option for car or plane trips.
It’s not the lowest price I’ve seen but still a good deal for a toy hamster that gives birth overnight.
And here’s a set of face and body crayons to buy now and save for birthday-party entertainment.
A classic kids’ game that fits in even the smallest purses or tote bags.
Restock your water-balloon arsenal for cheap.
Give them a new way to squish, courtesy of this Squishmallows slime kit.
I’ve brought this as a gift to several birthday parties and it’s always a hit. It’s also the cheapest I have ever seen it.
Everybody knows capybaras are hot right now; giving this Squishmallow has double status points.
8 years old and up
Though it’s only 17 percent off, Tattly temporary tattoos rarely go on sale and this set would make a lovely tween gift.
Here’s a 14-foot stuffed boa constrictor on sale.
This delightfully retro-looking LEGO Friends Space Rover set is cheaper than ever.
This particular style of New Balance is the hottest sneaker at Yang’s daughter’s elementary school.
And this advanced-level tree-house set is a good gift for non–Star Wars fans.
