Of all the dozens of toys in my home, the Toniebox is one of the few that I would consider as much a gift for parents of toddlers as it is for toddlers themselves. The screen-free audio player, which uses magnetic figures to play stories and songs, is endlessly engaging and easy enough for very little kids to use without the help of a parent. That makes it a fun, educational-ish gift that will immediately buy moms and dads some welcome free time. And today several Toniebox bundles are very on sale at Amazon for 40 percent off (or more). Depending on your giftee’s tastes, you can choose from a Disney Pixar bundle, a Spidey and His Amazing Friends bundle, a National Geographic bundle, and a Disney princess bundle.

My son is about to turn 2 years old and can sit for half an hour straight, plopping his favorite Tonies — the T. rex from the National Geographic bundle below as well as Spidey and Elmo — on and off the box. And even when he turns the volume all the way up, most of the music and other content is actually pretty pleasant to listen to while I cook or write emails. If you need a last-minute gift for a busy, curious toddler, this one’s worth it.
