I ID’d Kendall Roy’s $12,700 Nesting Coffee Tables

Last night’s episode of Succession opened with the three Roy kids alone in their various apartments, processing the death of their father not 24 hours earlier. A tearstained Kendall slumps against a fireplace in the penthouse of 180 East 88th Street — which happens to be for sale for $29 million — his view of Manhattan unfurling from floor-to-ceiling windows framed by massive concrete arches. Presumably, he’s in the bedroom (having been up all night, which he’ll later admit), as we see the foot of a bed just off-screen, a velvet Vladimir Kagan serpentine sofa (starting at $31,800 at Holly Hunt), and a pair of nested coffee tables whose rounded edges soften the austerity of the space.

I recognized those tables immediately, as they’ve been on my wish list forever. They’re by the Montreal-based designer Loïc Bard, a woodworker whose Bone collection of sculptural furniture features exaggerated proportions, plump legs, and smooth, curving edges that are just the right amount of cartoony.

Kendall’s are Bone coffee tables in bleached maple; these are also available in blackened shou sugi ban and natural maple. They come in small, medium, and large sizes, with the smallest starting at $6,100, the medium at $6,600, and the large at $8,200. The Radnor furniture gallery confirmed that Kendall’s tables are medium and large, so snagging this pair that nests will cost you at least $12,700 — chump change to a man like Kendall. Another coincidence: Bard’s work is sold exclusively in New York at Radnor, whose showroom occupies a 4,000-square-foot apartment in the same Upper East Side building. I can totally imagine Kendall (or, more likely, someone on his team) simply heading downstairs to furnish his place with goods from the gallery and calling it a day.
