The Triborough Bridge (recently renamed the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge) has been shut down to traffic tonight, as police are investigating a truck abandoned near a toll booth on the Manhattan side of the bridge. Witnesses reported seeing a man flee the vehicle (described as a U-Haul or Ryder truck) tonight, and the smell of gasoline was said to be emanating from the truck. Emergency-services officers, in addition to the bomb squad and the FDNY, are responding to the scene. [NYDN]
Update: Police have announced that no bomb was found on the vehicle, and that the bridge will reopen.
