Brooklyn’s 75th precinct, which includes East New York and Cypress Hills, was the epicenter of NYPD stop-and-frisks in 2011, the year the tactic hit a record-high, according to new numbers the NYPD released late on Monday. “More than 31,000 people were stopped, 97 percent of them either black or Hispanic,” The New York Post reports. Precincts covering Brownsville, Brooklyn; East Elmhurst, Corona and Jackson Heights, Queens; Mott Haven and Melrose in the Bronx; and Williamsburg, Brooklyn, made up the top five, respectively. The borough of Kings is also king of the stop-and-frisk.
