In the biggest and perhaps most shocking beauty news of 2021, Becca Cosmetics — a makeup line famous for its collaborations with mega-influencers like Jaclyn Hill and Khloé Kardashian — announced it was officially shutting down. Becca’s “daytime glam,” high-pigment formulas were beloved by many; its cult favorite Shimmering Skin Perfector highlighter snagged an Allure Best of Beauty Award in 2020, and its Brightening Under Eye color corrector was spotted in the hands of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in her latest Vogue beauty tutorial just a few months ago.
But before we shed tears, I come bearing a little bit of good news: Tons of Becca Cosmetics are currently on sale at Dermstore. Now is your last chance to shop its influencer-approved products — including its Aqua Luminous Longwear Concealer (which is one of my favorite hydrating concealers) as well as its blinding, cult favorite pressed highlighters — at a heavily discounted price.
If you are a longtime YouTube voyeur or even just a casual beauty enthusiast, you’ve likely seen (or even more likely purchased) this pressed powder from Becca. These highlighters, I would argue, are what set off the big highlighter trend of 2017. And for good reason — their formula is incredibly fine, pigmented, and easy to blend. With a few strokes, you can achieve a wonderful, dewy glow. With a few more layers, you can get a seriously blinding, “see your cheekbones from space” highlight.
If you prefer a creamier highlight, you might be more interested in its Ignite Liquified Light Highlighter. Just one or two drops can bring a showstopping, pearlescent beam to your cheekbones and can be easily tapped into the skin with just your fingers. Another thing that’s great about this formula: If you want to add a nice, warm glow to your face makeup, one or two pumps of this can be mixed into your foundation to give it a particularly glowy effect.
I’ve written about how much I love this foundation before. It’s a medium-coverage, natural-looking formula that gives the skin a soft, blurring effect with a velvety (but not matte or drying) finish. This is a great foundation for people who don’t necessarily love foundation, but like to occasionally wear it when they want that extra bit of coverage. It feels totally weightless on the skin, and it takes the edge off of any redness without looking cakey.
If you love a super hydrating, creamy concealer formula, you’ll probably love the Aqua Luminous line. This concealer has a medium-to-full coverage in an ultra-moisturizing formula, packed with vitamin E, squalane, and manuka honey to nourish and replenish the skin. With this concealer, you can quickly cover up even the biggest breakouts without any cakeyness or dryness.
I have yet to try out its other concealer myself, but according to reviewers, it has a matte, super-full coverage finish, which is better for oilier skin types.
I’ve actually never tried out this lipstick myself, but I saw makeup artist Nikki Wolff use it in a beauty tutorial, and I loved the warm, brick-toned color (which is perfect for spring and summer months) and its buildable, satin finish. According to reviewers, the formula is incredibly hydrating (it uses avocado and olive oil), so it soothes and moisturizes your lips while adding a bit of color.
This face gloss highlighter was one of Becca’s more recent launches, and it was, in my opinion, the brand’s attempt to pivot into more natural, everyday, Glossier-esque makeup. Nevertheless, this is a fabulous product! It’s a totally transparent, dewy face and lip gloss that you can use to add a fresh-faced shine to your cheekbones, eyelids, or lips. The best part is that it’s not too sticky, so you don’t have to worry about your hair getting stuck to it all the time.
