This is your final weekend to shop for Valentine’s Day gifts, so the Strategist team and I have spent a lot of the week finding gift ideas. I, of course, have been on the on-sale Valentine’s Day gifts beat, and I’ve included some of my favorite on-theme finds below, including a fluffy red robe, a pink AeroPress, and a heart-shaped backpack.
Our readers seem to have something else top of mind right now, though: pants. Several pairs have appeared in our “top clicked” this week, from on-sale denim at Gap to office-appropriate Banana Republic bottoms to sweats that don’t look like sweats. If it’s pants ye want, then pants you shall get: Below, I’ve rounded up pairs we’ve recently featured that are on sale, as well as a few I personally like.

Beauty writer Tembe Denton-Hurst rustled up all the best deals on skin care yesterday. She’s a big fan of Bioderma’s cleansing oil, which is “key for in-shower moisturizing.”
Our favorite hand cream that also contains SPF is half off, the cheapest I’ve ever seen it.
This set includes a full-size bottle of Dermalogica’s Daily Microfoliant (our favorite exfoliating scrub), a fan brush, and a bowl — all for less than the cost of buying the bottle alone at full price.
One of the best deals that J.Crew offers is an extra 50 percent off sale items, which makes this weekend a good time to stock up on under-$40 sweaters.
I particularly like the subtly frilly sleeves and neck on this all-cotton sweatshirt.
Net-a-Porter occasionally has sale-on-sales, but we’ve only ever seen it offer an extra 15 percent off. So that makes its current sale — extra 20 percent off all sale items with the code EXTRA20 — truly noteworthy. Sizing availability is pretty wonky, but this pair of black Lululemon shorts is still in-stock in all sizes except 6.
In this week’s Strategist Brain, fashion writer Ambar Pardilla shouted out these on-sale Old Navy sweatpants that she says regularly get “mistaken for pants-pants.”
She also found these pants-pants that feel like sweatpants from Banana Republic. “They paid for themselves five times over with how much I wear them,” she writes.
For men on the pants hunt, perhaps these $70 wool-blend trousers will do?
These are a bit low in stock, but they’re a favorite of fitness and men’s fashion writer Jeremy Rellosa.
All denim at Abercrombie & Fitch is 30 percent off right now, and code DENIMAF gets you an additional 15 percent off. These now-$54 mom jeans are calling my name.
Gap is also having a sale on all its jeans. The mid-rise version of a pair found in Mya Gelber’s hunt for the perfect pair of dark-wash jeans is my top pick.
If you have to wrestle your kids into clothes every morning, behold: These jeans are basically sweatpants.
Another nice pair (that can zip off into shorts) from Mini Boden. Select items are 25 percent off with the code PX4K, but only until Sunday morning, so be quick.
For the man who wants nothing for Valentine’s Day, might I suggest this trio of Paul Smith socks? They’re just $12 apiece, which is a steal for the brand.
Even if you’ve opted to spend Valentine’s Day in, you can still dress the part with this fuzzy deep-red robe. (Note that it’s even cheaper at Dillard’s but only available in size extra-large.)
These beige New Balances are surprisingly still in stock in all sizes: men’s 4 through 10.5. But I’m fairly confident that these are the same shoes, if you’re looking for sizing up to a men’s 14. (Plus, they’re a little bit cheaper at $98.)
Some heavy-duty boots for tromping your way through next week’s snowstorms.
Good-for-February Dr. Martens that are still cute year-round.
What’s better than the Timmy Tim toque? This periwinkle-and-magenta beanie from our guide to gifts under $50 from Black-owned businesses.
Fashion writer Ambar Pardilla’s “favorite Minnesota brand” is offering 30 percent off select items for its winter sale. This fluffy beret is made from rare Suri alpaca.
A smorgasbord of Jenny Lemons’s delightful food-themed claw clips are just $5 this weekend.
One of our top non-candy Valentine’s Day gifts for kids is this bracelet-making kit, which comes with heart-shaped gems, pearls, gold beads, and more.
All of Sugarfina’s Lunar New Year candies are deeply discounted. If you want to try everything, this bento box includes tangerine and mandarin gummy candies and yuzu caramels.
More citrus, this time in the form of an $8 bottle opener (that looks much more expensive, in my opinion).
Pair the above with these iridescent coupe glasses, and you’ve got yourself a cute cocktail-making date.
Deliver their Valentine’s Day bouquet in something nicer than the standard florist’s vase. Raawii’s Strøm jug is on sale for $55 at MoMA’s store, though that price only applies to the purple color pictured here. Pink, white, and brown are just $5 more at Net-a-Porter.
A timer for the modern-design lover who makes a mean sourdough.
Cuisinart makes Janelle James’s warm-up device of choice. “It’s better than a microwave. It can air-fry and make toast, but I mostly use it to warm up food that I’ve ordered,” she says.
Our best single-serve coffee- and espresso-maker is 20 percent off with the code VDAY20 (and makes an excellent gift for frequent travelers).
Thirty percent off is just about the best deal we ever see on Parachute, so if you need a new quilt and like this pattern, act fast.
Normally, just the Baina hand towel would set you back $40 — but this set is so on sale that you’ll get this checkered one plus two four-ounce soaps for only $26.
I’ve owned a very similar hand towel from Slowtide for years, and it’s held up surprisingly well. This one has a subtle flower print that’s very Marimekko.
Here’s a pretty camping blanket for when outdoor picnics become a thing again.
Taschen is having a huge sale on dozens of books this weekend, but I’m most entranced by this visual ode to the humble egg.
Yes, this is cheaper at Amazon, but if you’d like to support local bookstores, a selection of books are 25 percent off for Black History Month at Bookshop. I recommend Percival Everett’s James, which won both the National Book Award and Kirkus Prize in fiction last year.
I will never not include a (nearly) half-off charger from Anker in my sales picks! A useful product at a great price.
This wearable “Titan” of the breast-pump world is over $130 off. It has ultralight, easy-to-clean cups, and it can be charged with a regular old USB-C cable.
Strategist writer Lauren Ro recommends renting the Snoo instead of shelling out $1,700 to buy it. The brand’s having a special right now: You can save over $500 when you opt for a six-month rental. (That’s nearly 60 percent off!)
The Strategist is designed to surface useful, expert recommendations for things to buy across the vast e-commerce landscape.
