But no matter how extensive your music library may be, your wedding-day song list demands a certain amount of scholarly attention. In his new book 1,001 Songs, Australian music editor Toby Creswell indulges his music-nerdiness by offering up an eclectic mix of songs (by everyone from Elvis Presley to Leonard Cohen) and exploring the artists and circumstances that created them. The collection is notably rock-heavy (there’s no Irving Berlin or Stephen Sondheim), but the selection serves as an excellent primer for couples looking to expand their repertoire.
