Amy Sedaris is known to be particular, and strongly opinionated, about her stuff. When we asked her to share some of her favorite things with us back in 2019, they included the incredible pink paper towels she asks her brother David to bring her back from London, the bean frencher she uses to “jazz up a meal,” and her preferred plaster — not plastic — faux Cornish hen. Her penchant for collecting specific, delightful, and always genuinely excellent objects is also what makes Amy such a good gift giver. She’s been known to give Kryolan tear sticks to teenagers (“Because they’re a blast to use”), Il Bisonte wallets to guys (both straight and gay), and her favorite gin to anyone else, because “it comes in a nice, small bottle with a little monkey on it.”
So when we were thinking about who might be the perfect person to give some hyperspecific holiday shopping advice to our readers this season, she was our obvious choice. Fortunately for us, she agreed to lend a hand.
As our first-ever Strategist gifting columnist, Amy will be helping our readers find the perfect thing for that especially-difficult-to-shop-for-around-the-holidays person in your life. Send an email to [email protected] with “Ask Amy” in the subject line, telling us a bit about who you’re looking to surprise and what they might be into by Saturday, September 30. Amy will be answering a handful of your questions later this year.
The Strategist is designed to surface the most useful, expert recommendations for things to buy across the vast e-commerce landscape. Some of our latest conquests include the best acne treatments, rolling luggage, pillows for side sleepers, natural anxiety remedies, and bath towels. We update links when possible, but note that deals can expire and all prices are subject to change.
