The New York Post Is Switching Bosses for a Bit

Rupert Murdoch’s old-school attack dog Col Allan, the editor of the Post, is taking a three-month sojourn to tend to the News Corp. empire’s struggling newspapers in Australia, according to a memo obtained by Capital New York. That leaves loyal next-generation soldier Jesse Angelo — a college buddy of Rupert’s son James and the former editor of the failed iPad project the Daily — in charge of the local tabloid. The move is being described officially as “a temporary change,” but Angelo’s role at the paper has been growing since he was named publisher post-Daily: He’s also overseeing the relaunch of the Post’s clunky website and is starting to look a lot like the future at our favorite peddler of borderline smut and trashy pun headlines.
