Now that the Jets have, to borrow Rex Ryan’s phrase, put the shoe on the other foot in Indianapolis, it’s on to Foxboro for the right to play in the AFC title game. In the week leading up to the game, Rex Ryan made sure that the spotlight shined on him, at least for a little while, by declaring (among other things) that he planned on being the best coach on Sunday. Then Antonio Cromartie stole that spotlight by calling Tom Brady an asshole. (Presumably, the Jets also took a look at their Week 2 win over New England.) So will Mark Sanchez continue to collect playoff wins? Will the ever-confident Ryan prove that he’s been one step ahead of us all this time? Will our PS3 simulation once again be proven wrong? We’ll know for sure on Sunday. But what happened this week that didn’t involve app star Fireman Ed’s favorite team?
The Knicks wrapped up their road trip with a loss to the Lakers, a win over the Blazers, and a loss in Utah. Amar’e Stoudemire remained atop our Knicks Power Rankings.
The Nuggets did not trade Carmelo Anthony.
Syracuse crushed St. John’s to stay undefeated.
The Rangers lost to Montreal, then shut out the best team in hockey.
Michal Rozsival was traded to Phoenix, while Henrik Lundqvist and Mark Staal will head to the All-Star Game in Raleigh.
The Yankees signed Rafael Soriano.
We took in some bull riding at the Garden.
And we chatted with Don Larsen about how he toasted his World Series–perfect game.
That’s it for us. We’ll be back after the game Sunday, then return again on Monday morning. Have a nice weekend, and enjoy the game.
