New York State and Donald Trump are squabbling over his proposed restaurant and catering hall in Jones Beach. Trump claims that the state illegally blocked him from proceeding with construction on the site he leases, so he won’t pay the $207,307 they say he owes in rent. “The parks commissioner [Carol Ash] is totally incompetent,” Trump explained with his usual finesse. “She now stupidly sent out a notice for rent, and she’s the one who told us we can’t proceed.” [Newsday]
