After more than three weeks of arguing, posturing, and candy-eating the Senate has voted to close debate on the financial regulation bill, the largest overhaul of U.S. financial regulations since the 1930s. The vote passed 60 to 40, with three Republicans joining the Democratic majority. “We have made great progress,” majority leader Harry Reid said after the vote. “It has been hard to get to this point.” Now it must be reconciled with the House version.
