In 2010 Washington D.C.’s Hirschorn Museum received a generous donation from Bloomberg LP, which the museum decided to put toward the creation of a “temporary inflatable pavilion,” designed by the risk-taking and well-regarded New York architectural firm Diller Scofidio + Renfro. Washingtonians have affectionately dubbed the work in progress the “Bloomberg Bubble,” because, well, see image at left. (We might have gone with egg, but it’s your nickname, D.C.) But, reports the Washington City Paper, Bloomberg wasn’t so happy about the connotations of the word bubble:
