Pedro Hernandez, who confessed to the 1979 murder of 6-year-old Etan Patz, has been moved to a cell in the Manhattan Detention Complex after spending weeks in Bellevue Hospital Center’s psychiatric ward. The transfer took place on July 18 after Hernandez spent a short time in the mental health ward at Rikers Island jail. A source claims that Hernandez, who is said to be bipolar and schizophrenic, is being medicated in jail. He’s scheduled to appear in court again on October 1.
