Police arrested 31-year-old Anthony Matthews on Wednesday and charged him with attempted murder for allegedly imprisoning and torturing a woman at his apartment on Bainbridge Street in Bed-Stuy for over a month, the Times reports. Police found a 26-year-old female with “multiple injuries” at Woodhull Medical Center and connected her to Matthews, whom they believe tied her up, burned her with an iron and a heated screwdriver, and broke several of her teeth when he shoved a gun in her mouth. Whether or not Matthews and the woman knew each other prior to the alleged imprisonment is unclear. One neighbor said he had seen Matthews around with a woman, adding, “Whenever she was around him she wouldn’t make eye contact with anybody.”
