Today on Morning Joe, John Heilemann isolated the source of the outcry following Senator Chuck Hagel’s nomination for secretary of Defense: “the Israel question.” Heilemann points to Hagel’s unfortunately phrased comments about “the Jewish lobby,” which serve as “a flag in front of a bull” for pro-Israel neoconservatives. His stance could prove to be untenable owing to Hagel’s veteran status, he added, asking, “Who’s gonna stand up and look him in the eye and vote against him?”
