A New York State court’s ruling Tuesday that the addresses of gun owners must be redacted in Freedom of Information Law requests makes the map of gun permit holders published by the Journal News pretty much impossible to re-create. The state’s new gun laws had made it possible for individual permit holders to ask for their names and addresses to be removed from the state’s database, but this decision says the addresses, at least, must automatically stay secret.
