As we learn more about the second shooting to rock a New Jersey mall in as many months, some tragic final details have emerged about the fatal carjacking that make the whole thing seem especially senseless. The last thing 30-year-old attorney Dustin Friedland did before struggling with the robbers who apparently shot him in the head and left him to die, was to help his wife into their Range Rover. She sat in the passenger’s seat while Friedland walked around the back of the car, where he was accosted, CNN reports. Thankfully, Friedland’s wife was unhurt. As for the car itself, police in Newark found it on Monday, abandoned before it could be of any benefit to the thieves who took it.
