38 Things on Sale You’ll Actually Want to Buy: From Carhartt to Breville

This week, we unearthed a ton of Mother’s Day gifts (it’s soon, people!) as well as some other assorted gems, including some discounted Sunday Riley, metallic Birkenstock clogs, and a truly fabulous pair of Marni sandals.

A supremely elegant cotton shirt-dress from Free People that is supremely discounted.

A bunch of beauty stuff is on sale at Macy’s right now, including Sunday Riley’s beloved Good Genes.

Plus Sunday Riley’s Luna Sleeping Night Oil. According to pop star Raquel Undheim, whom the Cut interviewed, “I have really sensitive skin that gets red even if you just caress it once and the blue tansy and chamomile oils in this treatment really calm the redness. I use the oil at night to combat pores, roughness, dullness, and premature wrinkles and wake up with infant skin.”

This is one of makeup artist Katie Jane Hughes’s favorite eye creams. She told our own Rio Viera-Newton: “It lifts and tones the skin. It was also allegedly five years in the making. Some Harvard scientists were behind it or something very official.”

A nice little token of a gift for mom: This sweet little $6 Q-tip holder from Laura Ashley.

A not-too-thick Pendleton throw blanket with a signature “Glacier Park” stripe. We love how these look folded up at a foot of the bed with a white duvet, comme ça.

Chefs love Hedley & Bennett aprons. This one, a collaboration with Vans, features a snazzy checkered pocket. Update: This sold out. But here’s a wonderful apron from Sur La Table on sale for 20 bucks.

The bow on this Hello Kitty x Herschel Supply Co. backpack is what does it for us.

A (machine-washable) billowy blouse courtesy of Something Navy blogger Arielle Charnas’s clothing line.

There’s a dress/romper sale going on at Urban Outfitters, and this red linen frock with side buttons is a real cutie.

As is this Urban Outfitters x Laura Ashley number we’ve had our eye on. Incidentally, we saw someone wearing it ‘in the wild’ the other day, and it looked great.

These Carhartt-like overalls are also available in an off-white/cream color.

Some actual Carhartt. (Note: these shirts run on the wide side.)

We’re always in the market for easy-breezy cotton T-shirt dresses that don’t feel like giving up. This feels like it fits the bill.

More stripes, more easy breeziness, this time in jumpsuit form, and courtesy of Lou & Grey.

As we have noted before, there are still lots of holiday beauty gift sets languishing in sales bins across the internet that can be repurposed for Mother’s Day — like this trio of pigment-rich lip stains from Smith & Cult, for the mom who appreciates a bold lip.

Another good one for mom: a vanilla-scented hand cream from Library of Flowers that dissolves quickly and comes in a lovely bird- and flower-strewn tube.

And, finally, a $12 candle from Tocca inspired by “Roman hilltop villas.”

And now for some extremely fancy shoes. These Margiela slide sandals have an extra-chunky (but still very elegant) heel.

These pink and white Marni sandals are maybe… perfect?

These slides feature’s Chloe’s signature scalloped edges.

Some more normal-priced — but no less fabulous — shoes … and in this case, for a toddler.

This stately zip-around wallet from Longchamp has eight card slots and two bill pockets.

These Hudson’s Bay kids PJs are so classic and cozy.

A supportive and comfortable Lululemon sports bra in a very calming shade of green.

This delicate Coach bracelet that features an amethyst-dotted flower would make a nice Mother’s Day gift.

As would this watch from Tory Burch with a red leather braided bracelet strap.

Sur La Table’s clearance bin is full of extremely discounted Mother’s-Day-appropriate gifts for the mom who likes to cook, like the $130 Le Creuset Dutch oven we wrote about yesterday. There’s also this Breville Smart Oven, that allows you to toast, roast, bake, broil, or reheat anything from a slice of bread to a whole turkey. Update: This sold out at Sur La Table! But it’s actually available — and also on sale for the same price — at Amazon.

This Keurig machine makes lattes and cappuccinos in addition to classic cups of coffee.

Wayfair’s semi-annual bed and bath sale is currently taking place, which means it’s a good time to see what the weighted blanket craze is all about, as this one is just 60 bucks. (And it’s a good gift for a mom.)

For the … opposite blanket experience: a lightweight down comforter for those who still like to feel cozy in the warmer months, but would rather not wake up fully covered in sweat.

A lot of excellent reviews on this mid-century-modern-ish bed frame; most note how easy it is to put together.

Today (Friday) a whole slew of soothing Himalayan salt lamps are on sale at Amazon. This is a basic, no-frills option with over 12,000 reviews.

Hey, we recognize this from our recent guide to growing an indoor herb garden! It’s ideal for helping indoor basil farmers grow big batches of herbs. (It’s part of a spring lawn care sale on Amazon.)

Ending things on a bittersweet note: At the same time we were listening to Morning Edition and doing a last-minute scan of sales, we learned about Peter Mayhew’s death and stumbled on this on-sale interactive Chewbaca figurine who makes “contented sounds when he gets a friendly scratch on the head.”
