We’re in the dog days of summer, literally: The period between July 3 and August 11 is known as such because of the position of the sun relative to Sirius (which is often referred to as the Dog Star). This time also happens to be the hottest stretch of the season. Whether you’re a dog or a human, one of the best ways to cool off when it’s sweltering out is to splash in some water. If you can’t get to a public pool or beach, there’s always the bathtub — but we think a less messy way to soak on hot summer afternoons would be outside in a portable pool that can be set up in no time. Conveniently, the biggest size of the pool (XL) is one of the most discounted: In this “light grey” color, it’s a mere $35. Measuring 63 inches in diameter, the XL pool is plenty big for large dogs, smaller children, or both. You can get the same size in two other colors for a bit more money (both are still on sale for less than $40), and there are deals on smaller sizes of the pool, too. According to Amazon, all of those sales expire by 3 a.m. PDT — so if you like it, don’t dillydally.
