What Lily Aldridge Can’t Live Without

If you’re like us, you’ve probably wondered what famous people add to their carts. Not the JAR brooch and Louis XV chair, but the hand sanitizer and the electric toothbrush. We asked model Lily Aldridge — who just launched her first perfume, Haven — about the moisturizerboots, and candle she can’t live without.

The founder Rose-Marie Swift was one of the first people who really taught me about what organic is and about the chemicals used in beauty products. While I was pregnant, this was the only thing I’d use. I really tried to use only chemical-free beauty products when I was at home doing my own thing. It’s the perfect kind of coverage. You can make it thicker or thinner, depending on what you need it for. I generally use it around my nose and around my eyes and around my lips. It’s really blendable and natural-looking, which I like in a makeup product.

I’ve been using Tata Harper for years. Their Reparative Moisturizer works amazingly well, smells great, and it’s in a beautiful package. It was easy to add to my routine when I got pregnant, and I still use it every day. I love taking care of my skin, and sometimes if I don’t have time to do makeup, just reapplying moisturizer works. If you have a great moisturizer your skin looks really healthy and glowy.

I always have this in my purse. I’m naturally very shiny in my T-zone, and even though I do love to shine, there can be too much shine. If I’m getting off an airplane or out at night for an event, I’ll just tap on some powder. I’ll never forget being a young model and starting to make my own money — this was one of the first things that I bought that was like, Wow, I’ve made it. I bought a Chanel translucent powder at duty-free, and I was so proud to have it in my purse. I still feel that way when I see the Chanel logo. It’s always a reminder of how special it was to be able to get it.

I’ve been a big fan of 111SKIN for a long time. I travel so much, so I always have these on in the airplane. I can feel the coolness of them de-puffing my eyes. They’re also the first thing I put on when I get off the airplane: I tell my drivers, Sorry, just putting on a mask back here, I don’t want to terrify you. These have also been a lifesaver for all my sleepless nights as a new mom. They really help me out in the morning.

I think I found this in high school before it was something I could afford. I would see it at my friends’ houses, and I always thought it was so beautiful and chic. I was given the rose one on maybe my 17th or 18th birthday, and it was such a treat. I treasured it and never even lit it, it was too gorgeous. Now it’s just something I always go to. If I’m going to the Met Ball, I always pack a little Diptyque candle and have it lit during hair and makeup. I just love candles, I love flowers — they’re just little things you can put in your house to make it more cozy, and to me, a rose candle just makes an environment feel cozier.

I’ve been wearing Ray-Bans since I was a teenager. My dad would wear them, and they remind me of him. I feel like Jack Nicholson and Johnny Depp always wore them, and they just have that cool, classic rock-and-roll vibe. Sunglasses are the thing I like to splurge on most, and I have so many, but I always go back to the Ray-Bans. I have the Clubmaster, the Aviator, the Wayfarer — I rotate between them. I’ve been wearing the tortoiseshell Wayfarers a lot lately, that’s been my fall pair.

This is something that I’ve recently discovered. It’s just really flattering. I’m nursing right now, and it’s the perfect shape for that. I’d wear it with a great pair of vintage Levi’s or with these really cute Dôen high-waisted skirts that I bought for the fall and a slouchy boot.

I’m a lip-balm-a-holic and it’s something that my trainers can attest to: I will literally go from station to station while I’m working out and bring my water bottle and my lip balm with me. I just love the way it feels. I use it on my cuticles, around my eyes, my lips. I just have tons of them all over my house and in my purses. When I make my friends care packages, Windsor Edwards lip balm is always one of the items in the package.

I just love Dôen, and the Jane Top and Joan Dress are my absolute favorites for fall. The Jane Top is the perfect easy blouse for fall, with a pair of high-waisted trousers. I have one in a pumpkin-spice color, and I wear it with these really nice cream trousers and some brown slip-ons and my tortoiseshell Ray-Bans and my Bottega clutch. It’s kind of the perfect fall outfit to me.

Tabitha is one of my best friends. I saw her post these on her Instagram, and I was like, I need those boots, they’re everything I need for fall. I love the print, I love the style, and her shoes are so comfortable. I’d wear them with a longer black dress. I really love when a knee-high boot gets cut by a dress at the mid-calf length. It’s kind of slouchy cool.

I started working on this project about two years ago — we created four fragrances. Haven is the first one that’s launched, and it is a gorgeous rose peony scent. It’s a tribute to my garden at home in Nashville. What makes it really special to me is that there’s musk in it, so as you wear it throughout the day, it gets gorgeous and yummy and rosy-musky. It’s very addictive. All of the fragrances are based on a special location in my life — it’s about the memory a scent evokes. To me Haven is all about home and comfort and the beauty of your garden.
