If you’re like us, you’ve probably wondered what famous people add to their carts. Not the JAR brooch and Louis XV chair, but the hand sanitizer and the electric toothbrush. We asked the Buffalo Bills’ Eddie Yarbrough about the body wash, Ryan Gosling movie, and soy sauce he can’t live without.
I eat sushi all the time. I love some soy sauce. My go-to setup is soy sauce and a little ginger. I always, always need the full-sodium soy sauce with my sushi. If I’m rating myself on my chopsticks skills, I’d give myself a B+ or an A-. That’s a B- when it comes to plastic chopsticks, and an A- with wooden chopsticks.
I’m a huge movie buff. I love to just sit down, cuddle up, and really lose myself in the movies. It’s a nice way to get some peace and some quiet. I’ve got maybe 400 DVDs and Blu-rays in my collection. If I could only pick three of my favorites, it would be Space Jam, The Sandlot, and La La Land.
I’m a grilled-cheese connoisseur. Anytime I travel for a game, I have to make a grilled-cheese stop. I’ve had some pretty outstanding grilled cheeses in my day. If a restaurant has a grilled cheese available, I’m not ordering anything else except that. At home, I’m a very classic kind of guy, so I make my standard: butter, cheap bread, American cheese. I have my little cast-iron skillet. Not a huge one, but a small one for omelets. It’s been passed down from my grandma to my dad. I’m pretty sure my dad didn’t give it to me, but I stole it from him. Well, he knows I have it, he just didn’t give it to me, so I don’t know what you call that exchange.
My teacher had me start journaling during my sophomore year of high school. It really just started as a project, but I was feeling a little bit better, and it helped me get my thoughts out of my head, so I stayed at it. Now I journal almost every day. I grab my ukulele, my journal, my pen, and my piano. And I’m all set.
Oh, my robe. Mm mm mm mm. First of all, if you ever come across a pair of Ugg slippers, buy a pair. For my birthday, I got an Ugg robe, so now I get the same material that’s inside the boot, but it’s inside my entire robe. It feels like you’re wrapped in a cloud of love, tenderness, and care. It’s the best thing to get in after a long, hard day. I bring my robe on the road. If I could only take one thing, my robe would be it. I’m 6’3”, 255 pounds, so usually, if you buy a robe for me, my elbows are catching the breeze and it’s above my knees. But this one fits me perfectly.
I use all my mom’s Dove body wash, and I like it way better than any of the guy stuff. I’m like, Oh, man, this is awesome. I use it every single day. But don’t tell my mom that.
I’ve been playing the ukulele since my sophomore year of high school, too. My friend from Hawaii taught me how to play. I practice at least a couple of times a week. It has a really great sound to it. I mostly just do covers, but I’m working on a song I wrote in high school. It’s still not finished.
Growing up, I always wanted to play the drums and the piano. So I’ve been playing piano now for about six months. Well, I actually play on a keyboard — I’m a very frugal person — but it’s a full-size keyboard. I’m more of a neo-soul kind of guy, I love listening to Alicia Keys. I don’t love classical music, but I do like a little classical here and there.
Care2Rock is my lifeline in learning how to play music. Their mission statement is that it’s easy to teach music everywhere for everyone. So many people don’t have instruments or don’t think they can play instruments because it takes time and money. But the thing about Care2Rock is that they work around your schedule, which makes it perfect for me. So, it’s awesome. I love my teachers. The other part — which is so cool to me — is that they also work with children in foster care. A lot of the time, foster kids may have a music teacher, but then, they get adopted, or they have to move homes, so they have to drop everything and go where their life takes them, and they lose that connection with that teacher. At Care2Rock, they provide the instrument and the teacher. Wherever they go, they still can take the instrument with them, and their teacher — since they’re teaching them in an online format — can go with them wherever they go. It’s truly a groundbreaking thing. It’s been shown that with an instrument, a kid can really progress their life. It affects them in so many ways.
